Fifteen Exceptional Employers Recognized for Top Honor
WASHINGTON – The Department of Defense is pleased to announce the 15 recipients of the 2021 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest U.S. government honor to employers for support of National Guard and Reserve employees.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve announces the 2020 Volunteers of the Year (VOTY). Volunteers who serve in following functional and operational areas were nominated by their respective State Committee for the prestigious honor of being named Volunteer of the Year: Military Outreach, Employer Outreach, Public Affairs, Training, Ombudsman, and Operations.
WASHINGTON – Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) proudly announces the 30 finalists for the 2021 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The finalists include small and large private and public sector employers nominated by a National Guard or Reserve Component employee employed in their organization. ESGR received 3,382 nominations for this prestigious award for employers throughout the 50 states, Guam-CNMI, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and District of Columbia.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – David Kesner a supervisor at Frontier Communications of West Virginia was presented with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot award for the extraordinary support he provides his employee West Virginia Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Justin Bass. The award was presented virtually via Zoom by volunteers Dr. Rick Ferris and John Finlayson of the West Virginia ESGR Committee.
ELIZABETH, W.Va. – Danette Hardbarger, Wirt County Board of Education, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support she provides Sgt. Joseph Villers of the Army National Guard.
WASHINGTON – Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) program, has identified 140 employers as semifinalists for the 2021 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, commonly referred to as the Freedom Award.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Michael Washburn, U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center supervisor, received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award recently for the extraordinary support he provides his employee Cmdr. Michael Toth, United States Coast Guard Reserve.
