ERIE, Pa. – Pennsylvania Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced that Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine recently received an Extraordinary Employee Support Award and a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
Pennsylvania ESGR is particularly proud to present employers with award for their strong support of their employees serving in our nation’s Reserve forces during ESGR’s 50th Anniversary year.
Pennsylvania Northwest Area volunteers Gary and Wendy Weber presented the two awards at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Regan Peter Shabloski accepted the Extraordinary Employee Support on behalf of the College; the award is presented by ESGR in recognition of outstanding continuous support of today’s citizens who serve in the National Guard and Reserve forces. Police Chief Kevin Goode accepted the Patriot Award; he was nominated for the award by US Air Force Reservist Senior Airman Benjamin Aulenbacher.
In nominating his civilian employer, Aulenbacher said: “Police Chief Kevin Goode always reinforces thankfulness and gratitude for my service in the US Air Force and has made my transition into the military and back to my civilian job as a Police Officer very easy. Since I first informed him of my joining the Air Force, he has been very supportive of the decision and has always ensured me that my job would be open when I return from basic training, technical school, and various other trainings. Additionally, he has been very helpful making changes to the work schedule and assisting me with returning from any active-duty assignments.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
