MINNEAPOLIS – Anna Carroll, Transportation Security Manager for the Transportation Security Administration at the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriotic Employer Award March 18 in a presentation attended by TSA co-workers.
Carroll was nominated for the award by Army Reserve Spc. and TSA Train, Observe, Test Assistant Training Instructor Fong Vue. ESGR Minnesota Volunteer Christie Nixon presented the award.
Fong, was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years, including four on active duty. He has been a member of the U.S. Army Reserve for 2 ½ years and is assigned to a Physical Therapy Assistant slot in the 548th Hospital Augmentation Detachment in Milwaukee. He called notice to his current supervisor, Brianna Littlefield, for scheduling help and for describing how one of the TSA’s leave without pay categories would be helpful to him. He nominated Anna Carroll for the Patriotic Employer award because she allowed him ample to time to travel 350 miles each way and recover after weekend battle assemblies. More importantly, she advised and encouraged him and all employees in her charge to take advantage of the career advancement training and opportunities available through the TSA. He took on his collateral duties as a trainer under her guidance.
Carroll has been with the TSA for six years and has been promoted three times in that short amount of time. She recognized the paths that led her to those promotions and to greater responsibility within the TSA, and stated that she will continue to encourage people to advance in their careers. Expressing that the organization gets better as individuals within it get better, her team-oriented approach is a key element that all employees, but particularly military members and veterans, recognize in a quality supervisor.
Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director-Screening Travis Holloway signed the Statement of Support, signaling to the dozen TSA employees in the room that the Minneapolis-St Paul TSA will support their Guard and Reserve employees and that the TSA recognizes the value those military professionals bring to the workplace.
