ESGR in the News

LINCOLN, Neb. – AKRS Equipment CEO Kevin Clark, and supervisor Ryan Christensen were recently presented with the Department of Defense Patriot Award by Bruce Wood and Randy Amundson, volunteers representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Clark and Christensen were nominated for being highly supportive of their reserve component employee Sgt. Robert O’Donnell, a member of the Kansas Army National Guard.

“Mr. Clark the chief executive officer of AKRS Equipment has never batted an eye when I had to leave on short notice for any activation I may get called up on,” said O’Donnell. “Less than four months after starting work at AKRS I was called up to deploy. I have never had to worry or be fearful about telling my employer last minute that I had to leave to go support my state or nation.”

O’Donnell went on to say, “Ryan kept in contact with me while deployed and made the transition back to work easy and pain free. He showed interest in my well-being and family and my life in general. Ryan treated me like part of the AKRS family even though I had been gone for a year overseas. Among one of the best leaders I have ever worked for on the civilian side.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Amundson in his presentation.  “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Mr. Clark and Mr. Christensen with this award.”

Following the award presentation, Clarke, signed a Statement of Support on behalf of AKRS Equipment, publicly acknowledging support for all National Guard and Reserve service members, and stated that he will also sign an Statement of Support for each of their other 27 locations in Nebraska and Kansas.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit
