ESGR in the News

VALENTINE, Neb. – Dan Beberniss, owner of Premium Automotive and Repair, was recently presented with a Department of Defense Patriot Award by Jim Engel, a volunteer representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Beberniss was nominated for being highly supportive of his reserve component employee Sgt. Kenneth Starr, a member of the United States Army Reserve.

“I know how much the support of your community is valued. It is also a double bonus to find an employer who is willing to take on a service member through training, battle assemblies, and deployments, especially in the automotive/ATV technician position where not only the business loses a tech, the clients are also put on hold during our absence” said Starr.

Starr went on to say, “To have the full support of your employer, who also takes pride in their patriotism, not only means a lot to the service member, but also to their spouse. Not only does he show support to me and my family, but also employs a second service member as well. Dan has offered valuable assistance to my family in a way that a simple “thank you” does very little to convey our gratitude to him. He has gone above and beyond his duties as an employer and has offered a safe haven of compassion in times of stress related to being a soldier. Dan never fails to thank me and my coworker regularly for our service and recognizes up proudly.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Engel in his presentation.  “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Dan with this award.”

Following the award presentation, Beberniss, signed a Statement of Support on behalf of Premium Automotive and Repair, publicly acknowledging support for all National Guard and Reserve service members.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit www.ESGR.mil.
