OMAHA, Neb. – Milliman Benefits Consultant, Connor Johnson, was recently presented with a Department of Defense Patriot Award by Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve area volunteers; Ron Boro, Gary Valasek, and Ron Strawn.

Johnson was nominated for being highly supportive of his reserve component employee 1st Lt. Jack Korbitz, a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard. Korbitz, a financial analyst with Milliman.

“Over the course of the last year, my manager Conner Johnson, has been amazing about covering down for me while I’ve been away for training for the National Guard,” said Korbitz. “He made it known that Milliman, my employer, stands behind me in my service to the Nebraska Army National Guard. Through the busiest time of my military career, I felt safe knowing my job was safe and supportive of my decision to serve, and I had nothing to worry about upon completion of training events.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Boro in his presentation.  “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Connor with this award.”

Following the award presentation, Ron Cornwell, Principal for Milliman Omaha, signed a Statement of Support on behalf of the company, publicly acknowledging support for all National Guard and Reserve service members.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit www.ESGR.mil.
