In his comments, Wells, a Navy ROTC graduate from the University of Tampa and a Navy Veteran, embraced those associates, both veteran and those serving in the Guard and Reserve and stressed the importance of military service, the additional skills a citizen soldier brings to the company, and the company’s ongoing full support of its Veteran, Guard and Reserve associates.
The Statement of Support signing was initiated by Metrc employees, Vice President of People and Culture Shay Romaine, and Executive Assistant Alicia Reynolds. Florida ESGR Vice Chair Roger Trout presided over the signing.
Many Florida employers provide support above and beyond their legal requirements by offering pay-differential to offset the loss of wages, and extension of health care benefits, which complement coverage provide by the military, when their employees mobilize. According to Florida Committee, ESGR, Chair Rita Broadway, “By meeting the Statement of Support criteria, Metrc, Inc pledges to stand by its Guard and Reserve employees as they support our communities at home and missions throughout the world. Their sacrifices are essential to the strength of our nation.”
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the Reserve and National Guard through outreach, recognition and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. As the thirty-two thousand members of the National Guard and Reserve in Florida and Nationally 1.3 million members continue to perform unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors.
