ESGR in the News

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Mandee Lade, driver recruiter with Chief Carriers, was recently presented with Department of Defense Patriot Award by Chuck Haase and Brian Mageria, volunteers representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Lade was nominated for being highly supportive of her reserve component employee Corporal Bobby Higgins, a member of the Illinois Army National Guard. Higgins writes, “My supervisor had to move multiple things around to get me home with a nine-hour drive.”

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Haase in his presentation.  “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Ms. Lade with this award.”

Following the award presentation, General Manager, Andrew Winkler, signed a Statement of Support on behalf of Chief Carriers, publicly acknowledging support for all National Guard and Reserve service members.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.  For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit
