IRON RIVER, Mich. - Congratulations to Krist Oil for signing the Statement of Support on Nov. 11. To mark this important day, Krist Oil hosted a Veteran's Day event at the Iron River Historical Museum and provided a catered lunch by Curious Pig BBQ for veterans and active duty service members in their organization.
The company has signed a Statement of Support for each of their 76 locations across the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin. To see the local news story, visit the Upper Michigan News Source website.
In September, supervisor Kiel Atanasoff of Krist Oil received the ESGR Patriot Award. Kiel was nominated by Pvt. 1st Class David Froland of the Army National Guard.
"The Krist Oil Company in a whole is the most amazing company I've had the pleasure working for,” said Froland. “They are always working to better improve the switch back and forth between work and Guard life." The company has checked in on David while he was deployed, helped him excel in his work for the company, and have even helped his family find employment and childcare.
Froland went on to say, "I couldn't ask for a better place to work. I know that every day I am welcomed with open arms, and that if I was to have any issue, work or personal, I would be taken care of. They have gone above and beyond to make my family feel as part of their own. I can't put into words just how grateful I am to be part of the Krist Oil Family."
On Veterans Day, a Congressional Record was read by Representative Jack Bergman congratulating Atanasoff for receiving the Patriot Award. To read the record visit the Congressional Record section of the Congress website, record E1227, Vol.167, No.197.
The Patriot Award spurred Krist Oil to see what else they could be doing to support the veterans and active duty members who are employed by them. Since then, they have been awarded the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) bronze level for Veteran Friendly Employers, have signed the ESGR Statement of Support and even implemented a military and veterans discount at their stores.
