ESGR in the News

PASADENA, Md. – Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, announced that Lt. Jacklyn Davis, Director of Media Relations for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, received a Patriot Awards in recognition of her extraordinary support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

Davis was nominated for the Patriot Awards by Capt. Kyle Gittins who is a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  Gittins stated in part that he “was very grateful for all the personal and professional support provided by Davis during his activations.  Davis showed interest in his professional growth in the police department since he was assigned to her section.”

Ron Pitts, ESGR Western Maryland Area Chair presented the awards to Davis and said, “the Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.”    Pitts added that only about five percent of all supervisors of National Guard and Reserve members receive a Patriot Award.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
