ESGR in the News

RENTON, Wash. – Jaclyn Seifert, supervisor, Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Geico Insurance Company at Renton, Washington, was presented with a Patriot Award by Larry Kirchner, military outreach representative for the Washington Committee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, in recognition of her extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the Navy Reserve.

Seifert was nominated by Petty Officer 1st Class Victor Navarrete, a senior investigator in the SIU at Geico in his civilian career, for her support of his military service. “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Kirchner. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Navarrete expressed his appreciation for the support and accommodation provided by Seifert, citing her support and understanding of his reserve military duties. “I am Jaclyn’s first reserve service member so there was a learning curve in dealing with time off and orders at first, but she took the time and initiative to understand GEICO’s policy so that I am taken care of while I’m away on orders,” said Navarrete. “She makes me feel that what I do matters in both my civilian job and as a Sailor.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
