ESGR in the News

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Committee, a Department of Defense program, is pleased to announce the selection of Eddie R. Reed as its new Vice Chair.

The Vice Chair is an official Department of Defense volunteer position with a three-year term of service, renewable one time. Reed will support Michael Bamber, the ESGR Ohio State Chair, in providing the leadership and vision for a team of dedicated volunteers throughout Ohio to carry out the ESGR mission.
A retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, Reed most recently served as the Assistant Director of the U.S. Department of Labor (VETS) within Ohio, and Veterans Representative in the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  He has served as a volunteer with ESGR since 2007.

On his selection as Vice Chair, Reed stated, “I’m excited to be given the ‘vote of confidence’ by the esteemed leadership of Ohio’s Committee. I look forward to leading our volunteers to positively impact our service members and their civilian employment.  Our service members provide a great sacrifice to our nation, and it will be my patriotic duty to support them.”

With nearly 40% of the United States’ military force serving in the Guard or Reserve, Mr. Reed will have a direct impact on these men and women, and their civilian employers. He joins 53 other vice chairs who oversee the ESGR mission in the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between service members and their employers.
