ESGR in the News

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. - It's not often that a husband and wife team are both presented with the Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award, but that's what happened today in Louisville, Tennessee.

Brad and April Petree, owners and operators of
Petree Arbor Lawn and Landscape, were each recipients of Patriot Awards for their support of Certified Arborist Staff Sgt. Louis Vandergriff, who serves in the 465th Engineering Company, U.S. Army Reserves, Birmingham Alabama. The awards were presented by Knoxville ESGR volunteer Don Edmands.

Vandergriff wrote about Brad and April: "Regardless of my duty requirements or assignment duration, Brad and April Petree are both more than supportive to me and my family. They are always able and willing to assist my family while I am performing my military duties, and allow me to have greater peace of mind leaving my family for extended periods of time. The support that they provide me and my family is invaluable, and allows me to perform my duties with greater focus, energy and proficiency. They value service to country and have employed several service members over the years with greater flexibility to our often unpredictable schedules. While they do not serve in uniform, they serve through their unwavering support of those who do, and it is for this reason that I am requesting recognition for their patriotism."

In recognition of Louis' current deployment in service to his country, the Petrees have placed Yellow Ribbons on the sign at the business' entrance. Thank you, Brad and April, for your support!
