ESGR in the News


MONTPELIER, Vt. – Vermont Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program, is pleased to announce the selection of Charles Martin of Huntington as the new ESGR Chair for Vermont.

The chair is an official DoD volunteer position. Martin will take an oath of office during a formal swearing in-in ceremony at Montpelier, Sept. 9. He will serve under with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. The position carries a three-year term and is the equivalent of a military two-star officer under DoD protocol. Martin will provide leadership and vision for a team of 9 dedicated state volunteers spread across Vermont.

Martin is currently the Government Affairs Director at the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. He previously worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Fellow at the National Guard Association of the United States. Prior to beginning at the Vermont Chamber, he served on U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy's legislative staff in both D.C. and Vermont. Martin graduated from Norwich University with a degree political science. Charles recently served as a VTARNG intelligence officer as a Captain. He is also a member of the Huntington Conservation Commission.
