DEER LODGE, Mont. – The Rock Creek Cattle Company, a 30,000 acre historic Montana working cattle ranch set in picturesque rolling foothills was the location for Montana Navy Reserve air crewman Jamin Bonato to present his civilian employer Mark Beattie of Rock Creek Cattle Company with a Department of Defense Patriot Award.

The award was given in appreciation for Beattie’s stellar support of his military career. Montana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Military Outreach Director Joe Fletcher was also present.

“Mark has been absolutely wonderful in the last two and a half years ensuring that I can always make my time in the military,” commented Bonato in the nomination. “When I was stationed with the VP-69, I got a short notice about going to South America and Mark was just grateful for my service. If there is anyone in the world that is deserving of an award, it would be him!”

Beattie expressed his sincere thanks for the award and was very honored to receive it. He noted to the Montana ESGR volunteer he was very glad to have the service member as an employee and was extremely pleased with his work ethic and hard work.

The Patriot Award publicly recognizes employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their military employees. The award is the first step in a series of awards Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) has to present to supportive employers. An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and their family. Support includes a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR works to assure National Guard and Reserve military personnel are treated fairly and legally in regard to their civilian jobs.
