Employers visit 113th Troops Battalion, North Carolina National Guard
While the news headlines screamed how the last American soldier drove out of Iraq, they didn’t say anything about those soldiers from North Carolina, who will now and then, “dodge” back in again! The 113th Sustainment Brigade has been a major contributor from the North Carolina National Guard in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom by providing personnel, transportation and equipment support.

Frederick, MD – On August 13, 2012 Richard “Ric” Adams, IOM, President and CEO Frederick Chamber of Commerce, signed a Statement of Support. Along with thanks from the committee for their demonstrated support for our National Guard and Reserve, Ric also received a “Boss Patriot Pin” as further recognition of his commitment to our citizen soldiers. The statement of support program has been the cornerstone of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves effort to gain and maintain employer support. The intent of the program is to increase employer support of the Guard and Reserve by developing employers that advocate for employee participation in the military.

CA ESGR Chairman attends Marine Reserve Training Exercise “Javelin Thrust” at Marine Corps Base 29 Palms California
29 Palms, CA: California ESGR Chairman Mr. Andrew Wiktorowicz observed training exercises with the Marines during the Distinguished Visitors Day for Exercise Javelin Thrust 2012. This large scale joint and coalition exercise conducted at 29 Palms is the first part in a three part continuum, culminating with a Navy and Marine Corps led amphibious exercise Dawn Blitz in 2013.

Nissan North America Receives Patriot Award
Canton, Miss. –  Mississippi Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, announced today that Nissan North America and Arree Williams, manager of product quality assurance at Nissan’s Canton, Miss. vehicle assembly plant, were honored with the Patriot Award in recognition of Nissan’s extraordinary support for employees who serve in the Mississippi National Guard and Reserve.

Berlin Chamber of Commerce Signs Statement of Support
Berlin, MD – Mr. Butch Hensel, of Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, announced that Ms. Liz Walk, Chamber Coordinator, Berlin Chamber of Commerce, signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve on Friday August 24th. The signing ceremony occurred at the Chamber’s office at 14 South Main Street, Berlin, Maryland.

MONTANA ESGR CHAIR TALKS JOBS AT ROUNDTABLE FOR VETS
Commenting on veteran’s employment as well as employment for Montana Reserve component members, Montana State ESGR Chair Mike Flaherty was able to talk about how important collaborative relationships were in networking jobs. Flaherty spoke at a panel member in a recent Veterans Roundtable discussion led by Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg and Senator John McCain.
