Delaware ESGR hosts “Commander’s Breakfast with the Boss” held at the Delaware National Guard

Wilmington, Del.  - Together with leadership of the Delaware Army National Guard, and the 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB), Wilmington, DE, the Delaware Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) hosted a “Commander’s Breakfast with the Boss” on February 29, 2012, for civilian employers and their respective employees, who also serve in the Army National Guard.

Representative Kestell Honored by Department of Defense for Extraordinary Support of Employee Serving in the Wisconsin National Guard

Madison, Wisconsin—Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, announced that Representative Steve Kestell of the Wisconsin State Legislature was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of an employee serving in the Wisconsin National Guard.  He was presented with the award during a recent State Assembly meeting at the Capitol.

Congressman Ribble Signs Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve

Marinette, WI – Dick Vallin, Chair of the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced that Congressman Reid Ribble, Representative of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, recently signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve.

Two individuals with Baptist Health System have  been recognized as PATRIOTIC EMPLOYERS by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Ginger Henry, chief executive officer of Prattville Baptist Hospital, and James R. Williams, director of pastoral care for Baptist Health System in Montgomery and Prattville, were nominated for the awards by David M. Dersch, a chaplain at Prattville Baptist Hospital.  Dersch is a Major who is assigned as a Chaplain to the Air Force Reserve’s 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Educator Duo Presented Pair of Patriot Awards

Educators Tom Moore Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools and Principal Fred Anderson of Great Falls High School were presented with a pair of Patriot Awards in recognition of their outstanding support of Montana Air National Guardsman Senior Master Sergeant Randy Remsen.  The awards were presented at a Great Falls School District School Board meeting this past month.  A Patriot Award allows members of the Guard and Reserve to thank their civilian boss for their support during their military service.  This award is presented on behalf of the Montana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

It’s Not Who You Work for, Rather Who You Work With

Sometimes, being a GPTW is not about the free fruit, copious amounts of coffee, or spa treatments onsite (although those don’t hurt either). That’s right, it’s not about what you work for (cars, prestige, bananas…) or even who you work for, rather, it’s about who you work with – the people who you interact with on a daily basis. When looking for any job, my friends and family have always told me to analyze the company as a whole and what I would be doing on a daily basis, but also who my manager would be, as he or she could really make or break my experience.
