North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve(NCESGR) is a Department of Defense office led and operated by dedicated volunteers and staff whose mission is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve Service Members by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the Uniformed Services Employment Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), resolving conflicts through mediation and developing initiatives to increase employment opportunities for military service members, veterans and families. The field committee is made up of over 100 dedicated volunteers reaching out to employers and military service members through multi-functional areas such as Employer and Military Outreach, Public Affairs, Ombudsman, Training, and Employment Initiatives.

March 13, 2017FREEDOM AWARD FINALISTS NAMED
WASHINGTON (March 13) – Employers that support their military employees’ service make all the difference in the world.  That support can include paying an employee the difference between their military and civilian pay during a deployment, or even offering a full salary for the duration.  It can also be arranging for a US senator to be on hand for a farewell ceremony.  Some companies show their commitment by targeting military for hiring, while others set up military affinity groups to learn how to better serve their military employees.  Still others pitch in and simply make life easier for the families of deployed service members. RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense Office, announced Police Capt. Albert Lucas, Wake County Detention Services, Wake County Sheriff's Office, was honored March 9 with the Patriot Award for his support of Sgt. March 13, 2017R.E. Michel Company manager honored by the Department of Defense for patriotic service

ABERDEEN, N.C. – North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program, announced Michael Sneed, manager at R.E. Michel Company,  was honored Feb. 17 with a Patriot Award for his support of Lance Cpl. Clayton Davis, United States Marine Corps Reserve. The ceremony was hosted by ESGR volunteer, Kevin Spalding.
